Philadelphia, Pa. (May 24, 2012) Matthew Kenefic, Founder and President of Magellan Search Group was proudly inducted into the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Class of 2012 “40 Under 40”. Now in its 22nd year, 40 Under 40 recognizes leading young professionals in the Delaware Valley for outstanding success and contributions to their community. Honorees were selected from more than 250 nominations and represent some of the region’s most entrepreneurial and influential business leaders.
Kenefic founded Magellan Search Group in 2002, specializing in the recruitment and placement of Accounting & Finance Professionals in the tri-state area. Since its inception, Magellan has grown to employ more than 50 people throughout the Philadelphia Area. In 2009, the company expanded into the Renewable Energy industry, with the goal of helping companies to achieve their Going Green Initiatives.
Matthew’s entrepreneurial spirit has led the company to many successes, including being recognized by the Philadelphia 100 as “One of the Fastest Growing Privately Held Companies in the Philadelphia Area” three times in the past five years. He proudly displays Magellan Search Group’s two awards for “Best Places to Work in the Philadelphia Area” from 2008 and 2011. “It is a privilege to see our friend and founder receive such well-deserved recognition. Matt is not only an outstanding business leader, but a great contributor to the community, and a truly devoted husband and father,” said Joseph Nicolas, CEO of Magellan.
This year’s winners celebrated their induction at the annual talent show and reception held at The Crystal Tea Room on Tuesday evening. Kenefic was accompanied by his wife Tara, their three daughters, and his parents, as well as Magellan CEO, Joseph Nicolas and Managing Partner, Steven Mickus. “It’s an honor to be recognized in such an impressive group, but I would not be here without the continuous efforts of an amazing team we have at Magellan and the support of my family. I feel that I am receiving this award for all of us and I am grateful to share this evening with them,” said Kenefic.
Kenefic is an avid member of the non-profit Re-Use Your Shoes, and also sits on the charity’s board. Re-Use Your Shoes is located in Montgomery County, PA, and is dedicated to providing the disadvantaged with much needed supplies. Since Matthew’s involvement, the charity has helped thousands of people in shelters throughout the area. “Matt is a dear friend of many years. He has made a relentless devotion to strengthening the community through charitable initiatives, and we at Magellan are committed to continuing and expanding that legacy,” said Magellan Managing Partner, Steven Mickus.
